Where in the world...?

This week we have been using the Ipads to improve our knowledge of the world in which we live. As part of our exploration of Earthquakes we have been finding out about the different layers which make up the earth and learning how the movement of tectonic plates can cause a variety of natural disasters. After half term we look forward to finding out more about volcanoes!

Today we used online maps to locate capital cities around the world. We had great fun investigating and learnt lots!

May the force be with you!

In Science this term we have been exploring different forces. Over the last few weeks we have:
  • used a Newton meter to find out the measurement of the force of Gravity on different objects in the classroom.

  • investigated friction using Jenga bricks so that we could feel the resistance as the surfaces of the blocks moved against each other.

  •  explored air resistance by running across the playground firstly with nothing in our hands and then again with a small piece of paper and finally a large piece of card. This enabled us to feel the resistance the air caused as it acted on the surface areas.

  • tested different surfaces to see which had the best ‘grip’.
